FAQ

Questions owners ask

Straight answers about what ROAL does, what it costs and what it doesn't do.

What does ROAL actually do?

It answers your restaurant's phone, takes pickup orders from your live menu, answers questions about hours and the menu, and sends a ticket to your kitchen screen.

How long does setup take?

Paste your website or Google Maps link and you can talk to your own host in about two minutes. Going live means forwarding your number, which takes a few minutes with most phone carriers. Try it free

Will callers feel like they are talking to a robot?

Callers speak normally and the host responds in a natural voice. You pick the voice and the name. Try a call yourself before you decide.

What happens when my menu changes?

Edit the menu in your dashboard. The next call uses the updated items and prices. Sold-out items are not offered.

What if a caller needs a person?

Catering, complaints, and manager requests are handed to your team. The host does not invent an order to end the call.

When do I pay?

$0.90 when a pickup order is confirmed and the ticket reaches your kitchen. If it does not become an order, you do not pay. See pricing

What does ROAL cost?

$0.90 per successful order. There is no monthly fee, no per-minute fee, and no contract.

What counts as a completed order?

The caller confirms name, phone, and items, and the ticket lands on your kitchen screen. Anything short of that is free.

Hang-ups, wrong numbers, and questions?

Free. If it does not become an order, you do not pay.

What if my team voids a ticket?

Tell us. Tickets your team voided in good faith are credited, so you only pay for orders you actually made.

Is there a setup fee or minimum?

No. Set up and test for free. You pay $0.90/order once real orders start coming in.

We do a lot of phone orders. Is there a volume rate?

Possibly. Talk to us about your volume and we will confirm a rate before you go live. Talk to us

Can I stop any time?

Yes. Point your number back to your own line and the charges stop. No contract, no notice period.

What caller data is collected?

Name and phone number for the pickup, stored with the ticket. We do not take card numbers over the phone and we do not sell caller data.

Can other restaurants see my data?

No. Each restaurant's menu, calls, and tickets live in that restaurant's account, and staff sign in with their own logins.

Can someone post fake orders?

Tickets are only created from calls on your line, by your host, into your account. There is no public form that writes to your kitchen screen.

Is there an audit trail?

Every call keeps its transcript, and every ticket keeps its status history, so you can reconstruct what happened on a busy night.

Do I keep my restaurant's phone number?

Yes. ROAL gives your location its own line, and you forward your existing number to it, either all calls or only when you're busy or don't pick up. Turn forwarding off any time and your phone works as before. Call forwarding codes

Can it talk to callers who speak other languages?

Yes. The host answers in the language the caller speaks, and the order still lands on your kitchen screen as a normal ticket.

Does it take credit card payments over the phone?

No. It never asks for card numbers. Callers pay at pickup, or however you already take payment.

Do I need a POS connection?

No. Orders go to the ROAL kitchen screen, which runs on any tablet or computer browser. Your POS stays as it is.

What happens when several people call at once?

Each caller gets the host. There's no busy signal and no hold music during the rush.

What calls does it pass to my staff?

Catering, complaints, allergy-sensitive questions and anyone who asks for a manager. Your team gets a short summary so nobody has to start over.

Where does ROAL work?

Any restaurant in the United States. It's built in Jersey City, and the first restaurants are in Jersey City and Hoboken. Locations
