Ready time (quote time)

What is Ready time (quote time)?

Ready time is the time you tell the caller their order should be ready for pickup or delivery.

Ready time is the promised time for the order, usually spoken in plain language like “about 20 minutes” or “ready at 6:40.” It is also called quote time because you are quoting when the food should be done.

In a real restaurant, ready time changes with the rush. If the grill is backed up, a burger order may take longer than a side salad. If two large pies are already in the oven, a new pizza order may need a later quote. The host should base the time on your current kitchen pace, not on a guess.

Why it matters for phone orders: the quote sets expectations. A clear ready time helps reduce call-backs asking “Is it done yet?” and keeps pickup traffic spaced out. It also helps staff plan the ticket flow.
