POS (point of sale)
What is POS (point of sale)?
A POS is the system your restaurant uses to ring in orders, payments, and receipts.
A POS is the main system many restaurants use to enter orders, send checks, and track payments. In a busy shop, your cashier might enter a phone order there after the call ends, or the kitchen may see the order in a connected screen. For example, a caller orders a cheeseburger, fries, and a diet soda, and the staff needs that order recorded the same way as walk-ins. For phone orders, the POS matters because it is the record of what was sold, what was changed, and what needs to be prepared. If the phone note is vague, the wrong ticket can reach the line. Owners comparing systems often look at AI phone host vs online ordering to see where phone calls fit in.
