Read-back

What is Read-back?

Read-back is when the phone host repeats the order so the caller can confirm it before the ticket goes to the kitchen.

Read-back is the final check in a phone order. The host repeats the items, sizes, modifiers, sauces, and any notes so the caller can catch mistakes right away.

For example: “So that’s one large pepperoni pizza, well done, extra ranch on the side, and a Caesar salad no croutons. Ready at 6:20?” That kind of repeat is useful when a caller says two different toppings too fast, or when a busy Friday line makes details easy to miss.

Why it matters: a good read-back helps cut down on wrong toppings, missed allergies, and remake headaches. It also gives the caller confidence that the order was heard correctly. In phone ordering, that last check is often the difference between a smooth pickup and a frustrated customer.
