VoIP
What is VoIP?
VoIP is phone service that carries calls over the internet instead of a traditional phone line.
## What it means in a restaurant VoIP is often used for restaurant business lines, especially when owners want call forwarding, multiple lines, or a web portal for settings. It can be a practical setup for takeout counters, ghost kitchens, and multi-location groups.
Example: Your front counter line rings on a tablet in the back, while busy-hour calls can be forwarded to another line when the host is slammed with lunch tickets.
Why it matters for phone orders:
- It can make forwarding easier when the dining room gets busy.
- It helps keep the restaurant’s main number while rerouting calls when needed.
- If the internet is unstable, call quality can suffer, so it is worth testing with a real lunch rush call.
