Back of house
What is Back of house?
Back of house is the kitchen and prep area where the food is made.
Back of house is the kitchen, prep station, dish area, and other staff areas guests do not see. This is where phone orders become tickets, bags, and finished food. If the order is messy, the kitchen pays for it with extra questions and re-fires.
For example, a caller orders a chicken wrap, no onions, extra sauce, and a side of fries. A phone host can capture the modifiers clearly and send a clean ticket to the back of house, which helps reduce confusion during a busy shift.
Phone orders matter because the kitchen needs accurate notes, not a half-heard message on a crowded line. How it works shows how the call becomes a ticket the kitchen can use.
