Per-minute billing
What is Per-minute billing?
Per-minute billing means you pay based on how long a call lasts, not just whether an order was taken.
## What it means in a restaurant Per-minute billing is common with human answering services and some phone support plans. If a caller asks about Friday specials, parking, gluten-free options, and then places one pickup order, the clock keeps running. That can be hard to predict on a busy night.
Example: A customer calls at 6:45 p.m. to order two chicken parm dinners, asks for extra sauce, and then checks if the lot behind the building is open. If the call takes 4 minutes, you pay for those minutes.
Why it matters for phone orders:
- Longer calls can cost more.
- Questions about hours, menu, and allergens still use time.
- Rush-hour calls can stack up fast.
